Harry Markles’ last post as a leading figure in British politics has been a poignant plea for all the young people out there struggling to find work.
Mr Markle’s message, released on the blog of the anti-immigration party, is that “we need more people like you in politics”.
It is not a message that many in Britain are likely to hear from the man who was voted Britain’s youngest MP in 1983.
But his message is a message which will resonate far beyond his constituency of Bury North.
In fact, it is one which may well become the national political anthem.
And while he may be long dead, his message will resonate even if the world ends soon.
