Hillary Clinton on Sunday urged voters to “choose” between “the future” and “the past” ahead of the first Democratic debate between the two Democratic presidential candidates.
“This election has shown that the only way to win back America’s confidence in itself is to choose the future over the past,” the former secretary of state and Vermont senator said in a statement.
“The choice we make today will determine whether we are remembered as the last generation of American leadership, or whether we continue down the path of a divided America and a divided world.”
Sanders is slated to meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin on Tuesday.
The debate will be held at Hofstra University in Hempstead, New York, where Clinton was a student and Sanders was a senator from Vermont.
